A money plant is an indoor plant that survives in indirect sunlight and less care is required to keep it. It has a round, flat, and sharp coined-like structure of leaves. It is called a money plant because of an ancient tradition used by Feng shui practitioners that it brings money, prosperity, and good luck to your home.
Money Plant Benefits:
- As the name shows its connection with money and wealth, it is native to South America and Mexico but also popular in Japan and Asia. It is a traditional Chinese concept of Feng Shui and Vastu that placing a plant in a specific southeast direction at home brings good luck to the home. - During the growth period balanced liquid fertilizer should be supplied and repotting is done after 1-2years as roots grow outside the pot. The pot should be of a little larger size to ensure proper draining from holes
Common Issues:
- Too much watering leads to overgrown roots, and yellowish leaves, and black stems
- Less watering causes curling of leaves and dry potting mix
- The well-draining pot should be used and watered every 1-2 weeks and the soil should be 50-60% dry
- Leaves also drop off when there is stress in the environment, money plants are sensitive to temperature changes. Keep on misting if your home is on a drier side.
